After developing a centre for research, training and production in the
audiovisual industry the Academy and the Film Institute "La Lanterna
Magica" took on the responsibility of restoring Cinema Massimo.
This
was the last remaining cinema in the old city centre available for
screening films. Cinema Massimo was built in the late 1940s and
premiered films such as 'Umberto D'. In 1952 the director, Vittorio
DeSica, and scriptwriter, Cesare Zavattini, were present at the
premiere.
Cinema Massimo was renovated and is now equipped with the
latest screening technology. Cinema Massimo provides maximum comfort
and technology as well as latest release films provided by Cicuito
Cinema (distributors of quality films in Italy).
