The Abruzzo region has a wide variety of natural landscapes; imposing
mountain ranges (Gran Sasso of Italy – 2.914 metres), hills with various
flora and fauna, wide plains, cliffs and stretches of coastline (130km
of shoreline).
The three National Parks and the Regional Park serve to
protect and maintain the value of a territory which has natural
reserves and WWF oases. Such variety allows numerous different
environments to be created within one area.
Abruzzo not only has natural landscape to offer; abbeys, Romanesque,
Benedictine and Cisternina churches, monasteries, castles, noble
residencies situated in the magnificent surrounding villages but also
state-of-the-art establishments such as Telespazio and the Gran Sasso
Nuclear Physics Laboratory and Observatory.
Arts and culture, science and nature create different landscapes which
have proved to be ideal as sets for film and television production. |
